In Support of The Middle Class!!

I just decided last week that I needed to write my beliefs about all the garbage that is happening out there, and yes, I am liberal minded, so some of you can choose not to read this if you want me to write in favor of large corporations, etc. I am appalled by the reports I hear on the news re: the republican governors and republican congressman willing to cut planned parenthood, social services, middle class jobs, social security. Yet they are supporting the wealthy businessmen. The audio of Governor Walker and the Koch brother is an example of the atrocities that are happening to the middle class.
I need to be doing something. I did hear today of a group that is starting a water fast today in honor of the people who will starve, lose housing, and perhaps die because of cuts made by republicans.
Who am I and why do I care? I am a counselor who has ALWAYS worked with kids, works with families and in schools currently, and have previously worked in social services.
Again, obviously I did not choose these careers because of the big bucks I would make in these fields, but I really do care about helping people and about making a difference. I am scared and hurt by what I see going on and hopefully every little bit of positive energy we can put out there will help. Look at the wonderful marchers we've had in Madison every weekend. What about the 14 Democratic senators who came to Illinois to stop the "steamroller" that Governor Walker and the republicsns were attempting.
I do hear that overall, the republicans have hurt themselves more than they have helped their cause. Hopefully the damage they attempt can be undone in the future.

So why pick on the middle and lower-income Americans? Because they can. Because their campaigns and their offices are paid for by big corporations, not by us. Because the Supreme Court has stated that they can contribute as much to campaigns as they wish. Because legislators have given all the tax breaks to the wealthy and the corporations. The people making under $30,000. feel the tax increases, feel the grocery prices and the gas prices. Who do corporations pass their costs on to - the poor and middle class.
More later.
